It’s summertime and the livin’ is easy, or at least it feels like it should be. Pip, Ollie and I have been pretty busy over the last couple of months, but unfortunately with our regular everyday lives rather than with our County Roots venture. Now that the sun is out a bit more often and the temperature is rising we’re feeling good and our busy lives have slowed down a bit, but just to fill you in…
Pip has recently started a new job, Ollie was on the brink of moving home to Shropshire from London is holding out for a little longer, and I have just completed my first year of a two year MA – and all the assignments that came with it. I think I can say on behalf of my dear friends and colleagues that we are ready to get this show on the road!
We want to make more appearances at county shows and fairs over the summer, but had our first taster of this sort when we went to a Point-to-Point in Somerset on Easter Monday. Pip and I had a great day and enjoyed setting up our stall, getting to know the other vendors (who had lots of friendly advice for us first timers), and placing a few bets. It’s onwards and upwards from here we hope.
We are big fans of Wimbledon and are looking forward to following the progress of the 11 British players who are starting the competition on Monday 23rd June. 6 out of 11 of them come from Shire counties! Just FYI. Ya’ know. Pip and I are hoping to queue for tickets for the second Monday so keep a look out for us on the telly!!
Ah yes! Wimbledon, BBQ’s, frisbee in the park and swimming whenever humanly possible! This is summertime and we love it. Now we just need to see more people sporting our T-shirts and that would be the cherry on top.
