Somerset la la la

Somerset la la la

Somerset la la la. What do you think of when you think about Somerset? We think about tractors, farmers, cider, glastonbury tor, wells cathedral, school (2/3 of the CR team went to school in Taunton) um.. Taunton! Butlins (questionable), cricket (encouraged) and much much more.

At the moment however, the particular thing we think of when we think about Somerset is Fennington Farm and the Point to Point that is being held there on Monday 21st April, aka Easter Monday.

You’ll all know what a Point to Point is now thanks to last week’s blog (quick…you, the one who hasn’t read it… go and read it now, we’ll wait!)

Are we all ready? Then we’ll begin… So on Easter Monday, bright and early, we will be heading to Fennington Farm in the delightful village of Kingston St Mary (yes, we agree it does sound rather Harry Pottersish) – luckily, thanks to the generosity of a sister and a new brother-in-law (yay) we won’t have to wake up too early as we will be at their gaff in Taunton the night before, drinking their wine and raiding their fridge. Also, with thanks to long suffering parents, we will be travelling in a noble chariot that boasts the facilities of a cold fridge and the ability to make tea.

This weekend will be spent making the final preparations; Izi is putting finishing touches to some Somerset inspired bunting, Pip is checking the stock and creating order forms (just in case we sell out) and Ol is at a three year old’s birthday party in Shropshire… we’re guessing it’s because of the free food and bouncy castle.

We’re really looking forward to this first opportunity to talk to people en masse about our idea and to get their ideas for where we can go in the future. The dream is to make CR a household name and to create a fun-filled, dog-friendly, full-time occupation for the founders and this is an important step towards making that a reality – but fear not – if it doesn’t go as we hope we won’t give up – the Moonrakers and Salops are a tenacious people and we will continue until the Somerset Cuckoos submit (or until we go bust).

We’re going to be making a video blog about our first trade stall experience (that’s where Ollie comes in, in case you’re wondering) and we can’t wait to share the experience with everyone who knows us and all the new people who will know us after Monday.

CR out.
